1. Objectives
This research aimed to understand the differences of constitutions based on Sasang constitution theory, and recognize the various physical symptoms according to the constitution through the clinical research.
2. Methods
For this descriptive research, total 2,629 subjects(Taeumin: 1,061, Soeumin: 683, Soyangin: 885) Participated in this survey from Nov. 1st 2007 to Jul. 31st 2010. All the symptoms experienced by subjects were collected through a Neuropathy questionnaire, and the subjects were diagnosed by medical doctors specialized in Sasang constitution to confirm their Sasang constitution. The collected data was analyzed with computer software of SPSS 17.0: general characteristics, Sasang constitution and physical symptoms were analyzed with real and percentage. Neuropathy characteristics and differences between men and women in accordance with Sasang constitution were analyzed with Chi-square test.
3. Results
1) The physical symptoms of all respondents according to the constitutions are as follows: Soeumin had ‘Frequent blisters’, ‘When getting up fatigue', 'Headache', 'Loss of appetite or indigestion', and 'Digestion'. Taeumin had ‘Perspiration’ and ‘Swelling'. Soyangin had ‘Forgetfulness’. 2) The physical symptoms of male respondents according to the constitutions are as follows: Soeumin had ‘Side headache', 'Frequent blisters', 'Runny or stuffy nose', 'Loss of appetite or indigestion', and 'Digestion'. Taeumin had ’Swelling‘. 3) The physical symptoms of female respondents according to the constitutions are as follows: Soeumin had ‘Headache’, ‘Loss of appetite or indigestion’, ‘Digestion’. Taeumin had ‘Knees pain', 'Bloodshot', 'Dry mouth', 'Cough', 'Perspiration', 'Swelling'.
4. Conclusion
With this study, it is recognized that the physical symptoms appear differently according to the Sasang constitution. So, it is expected that understanding about the Sasang constitution and systematic and individual health care can contribute to maintain the health of subjects.
